Lets face it ladies! If you’re not on the “flaca” side, finding dresses that perfectly fit your figure (without spending a fortune on tailoring) can be both challenging and frustrating. Well, that’s about to change! Last week, I attended the launch of Dominican fashion designer, Cenia Paredes’ new line of ready-to-wear collections Cenia New York. The event took place at the always fun, PHD at the Dream Hotel. One of my favorite rooftops in the city, it set the perfect backdrop for fun, fashion and a few surprise appearances!

Who is Cenia? Well, Paredes is no stranger to the limelight. You may have seen a lot of designs on celebs like Adrienne Bailon, Julissa Bermudez and Evette Rios, to name a few. But most recently, she had the honor of dressing Vanessa Nadal, the wifey of Hamilton Lead, Lin-Manuel Miranda. You know, one of the HOTTEST stars on Broadway and one of the most IMPOSSIBLE lotteries to win? Yeah, him. Anyway, Vanessa graced the runway at last week’s 2016 Tony Awards, dressed in a Cenia exclusive, made just for her.

The dress, which was a combination of a pink and blue splatter print, was a sleeveless and nipped-at-the-waist dress. Pretty unique from other gowns seen on the red carpet, it was long and graced the floor, but because of the splattered paint bursts of color, it was truly distinctive. Vanessa couldn’t have looked more beautiful as she accompanied her husband, who was nominated for the Best Actor in a Musical Award for the show that has become a cultural phenomenon. Lin-Manuel Miranda accepted the Tony Award for best original score. He began the speech by thanking his wife Vanessa, “a perfect symphony of one,” and ended with the insistence that “love is love is love is love is love. It cannot be killed or swept aside.”

What I love about Cenia’s new line is that its tailor made for curvy women like me, with more room at the waist and hips and less room at the bust. You know, the pear shaped kind? Because lets face it, not everyone has these long svelte, evenly distributed bodies.
The celebration at PHD, brought the hottest fashion media, bloggers, VIPS and even a guest appearance by Lin Manuel himself, along with his wife and their family. Him and Cenia, are great friends and he made sure he was present to support the debut collection “Sea The Future” under her label Cenia for HSN.
Just in time for summer 2016, Paredes will bring three of her signature dresses in new and exciting exclusive prints and bold colors, available for purchase on HSN. The collection highlights Cenia’s proprietary distinctive fits created to flatter and complement the most predominant female body types in America—The Cenia Fit for pear-shaped women with more room at the hips and less room at the bust, and The Regular Fit for curvier women with more room at the bust, waist and hips.
These knee-length, body-con signature silhouettes are fully-lined and made from quality stretch fabrics that conceal and provide a sexy, yet tasteful look while flattering her best assets without the need for body shapers. The collection retails between $79.90 and $99.90 and are also available on HSN Online.
Here’s a sneak peak of the collection:
Cenia is excited to partner with HSN, and have her collections available to their audiences. In fact, she credits her love of fashion and design to her own frustrations of not being able to find dresses that fit her body type. In fact, did you know that only eight percent of America’s female population has the traditional hourglass figure? And about 20 percent of America’s female population have pear-shaped body types.
