Poop Peeps, Easter Bonnets & Nutella French Toast! Easter weekend in NYC.

Bust out those Cadbury eggs and pick out your Easter dress. It's officially Spring and we are now fashionably allowed to wear colors. YAY!

And yes, I intend to do just that. I don’t care what New Yorkers wear, I will continue to avoid BLACK and rock those bright colors any chance I get.

It’s Easter, a fun (and sacred) holiday for many, For others it’s just an excuse to brunch- but rest assured, there is no shortage of fun things to do in New York this weekend.

Here are my recommendations, based on what I did last year:

I started off with a delicious at Penelope. It’s one of my neighborhood favorites. No reservations, and a tiny space mean long waits. Wake up early and beat the crowds. I promise you won’t be disappointed.

I guarantee you'll have one of the best brunches, in one of the cutest, quaintest spots in New York. Think, layered French Toast smothered with Nutella, topped with bananas and powdered sugar. Yes. Go.

Next, I made my way uptown to check out St. Patrick’s Cathedral for Easter Sunday Mass. Being raised Catholic, and being away from the family on Easter for the first time in many years, I figured it was a must for my first NYC Easter experience.

St. Patrick's Cathedral has a variety of Easter Masses, including 8 on Easter Sunday. But, the early morning ones require tickets, the rest are open to the public. It was crowded, but we got a spot and it's one of the most beautiful masses I have ever attended. Actually, it’s THE MOST beautiful.

Next up: the Easter Parade. It takes place on Fifth Avenue from 49th to 57th Streets. But honestly the best place to watch it is right outside around St. Patrick's Cathedral. It starts at 10 am and goes on until 4pm.

Expect to see the most over the top Easter bonnets you will EVER see. Like these guys down here...

It's a HUGE annual tradition that has been taking place in NYC for over 100 years.

The Easter Bonnet festival tradition started in the mid-1800s. Picture this, high-society ladies (think Real Housewives circa 1800) would step outside of church after mass and showcase their high-end Easter fashions. Think over the top bonnetts, fancy dresses & perfectly accesorized from head to toe.

Well, over the years it became a big joke and you can now see everyone from kids, to adults, men, women & even pets, dressed in crazy Easter themed costumes and over the top bonnets!
