Cue song… It's beginning to look a lot like Christmas...

Over the last couple of weeks we've had some pretty unstable weather. I'm not sure if Winter has decided to come and make her official debut or if she's just teasing us, perhaps more than likely trying to ease us into the cold bitterness that will likely await us. One day its freezing, rainy & cloudy and then and it’s suddenly back to 60’s, and not a cloud in the sky.

With that said I've slowly had to pull out jackets, scarves and boots. And as you walk the streets of New York City, you'll start to really feel the Holiday Season. Christmas lights adorn the trees, you’ll see holiday décor starting to takeover storefronts, and you can see that the Rockefeller Christmas tree has already arrived.

So to get into the season it was only appropriate that I attend my first Radio City Christmas Spectacular. Despite the many times you walk in front of it, approaching Radio City Music Hall always gives me butterflies-especially during the Holiday Season.

The Radio City Christmas Spectacular is a one-of-a-kind musical celebration put on by the Rockettes. The Rockettes are the world’s most famous precision dance company. A New York City icon, they are legendary for their precision dance and eye-high kicks.

The show is seen by more than 1 million people annually and has toured over 60 cities through the U.S. & Canada. You can find the Rockettes dancing for glorious occasions like, the Tony Awards, and Super Bowl Halftime Shows to Presidential Inaugurations.

Anyway, I love to dance and I have always been fascinated by dancing and so, any chance I get to see a dance performance, I’m in. The show that these ladies put on is absolutely amazing. They are so synchronized, they do not miss a beat and the optical illusion that they create based solely on movements of dance, is definitely one to be commended.

There are 36 stunning Rockettes that perform in each show. That’s 72 legs moving in perfect synchrony at every performance of the Christmas Spectacular.

The idea of the Rockettes began over 85 years ago and it has grown tremendously over the years. These ladies work so hard! You can see it in the shows the put on, but more than anything, you can tell the inherent passion for performing these women have.

Think you want to be a Rockette? Well you’ve got to meet the height requirement! Each Rockette must be between 5'6" and 5'10 1/2"- no more, no less. This helps to keep them perfectly aligned & perfectly synchronized.

The amount of creativity that goes into one of these shows is spectacular. You will see over 1,300 costumes throughout the 90-minute. Each one beautifully pieced together, intricately designed & full of sparkle!

World famous fashion designer, Erte was known for his Art Deco style. He is responsible for the stunning gown, elaborate costumes & fames plumed headces. The Rockettes Silver Feather Finale, was inspired by his work and is on display at Radio City Music Hall.

Also unique to the show is the live animals, which were pretty unexpected. Camels, sheep, and donkeys make their debut throughout the show. The animals live in hay-filled stalls while their handlers sleep nearby. The zoo where the animals are cared ensured they are well hydrated and cared for. The animals consume 450 bottles of water, 340 bales of hay and 560 loaves of 7-grain bread over the show's 9-week run, and exercise daily with early morning and late night strolls on the streets outside the Music Hall. Ever want to run into a camel on the streets of NYC? Well this is the time you’ll see it!

The show itself is amazing. But more than anything I really appreciated the complete storyline. The show walks you through story of Christmas in the city. It starts with Santa arriving to Radio City Music Hall to put on a show and journeys through Christmas time in New York City. You will travel through Time Square, The New York City Public Library, Madison Square Gardens, Bryant Park and world famous Rockefeller Center. It’s all beautifully tied together in the spirit of the Holiday season with lots of dancing music and even some singing.

From toy stores, to toy soldiers, the story is delightfully put together and ends with a beautiful tribute to Jesus and how the history of Christmas came to be. The Three Kings make an appearance, alongside Mary & Joseph and ends with a beautiful stable replica of where Jesus was born. Given the fact that the world is comprised of so many religions, beliefs & customs, I was quite surprised, but happy to see that the Rockettes show made it a point to incorporate that into the performance. It’s so easy to get caught up in the gift giving, the wrapping paper, the holiday hopping and champagne popping, after all let's not forget that after all, Jesus is the reason for the season.

If you're looking to attend a show, you can find less expensive tickets when you attend Sunday shows or matinees. And the great thing about the iconic Radio City Music Hall, is that regardless of where you're sitting, you have a great view of the stage, so it's really not necessary to splurge on pricy seats.

The Rockettes Christmas Spectacular runs now through January 3, 2016, so make sure to check it out while you're in New York City. When the show is over a classic Rockette Cupcake from (my favorite bakery ever) Magnolia Bakery is an absolute must.
